UAE - Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has provided around AED 641 million support for food security and the agricultural sector during the first quarter (Q1) of 2020.
The fund covered five main programmes, including rice and flour subsidy programmes, as well as farmer’s income improvement, animal feed, and compound feed, according to the authority's recent press release.
During the first three months of 2020, ADAFSA provided more than 16,300 tonnes of flour and rice to 138,228 families as part of its rice and flour subsidy programmes valued at AED 48.5 million and AED 5.6 million each.
In addition, the authority backed 17,060 livestock breeders with AED 261.2 million and developed a farmer's income improvement programme at a value of AED 271.4 million for 13,572 farmers.
The programmes are part of ADAFSA's efforts to develop the agricultural and food sectors and create a world-leading food security system.
